Nery Kim was born in South Korea and began playing piano at age 5. She studied with Darren Barrett, Hal Crook, Frank Carlberg and Kevin Harris at the Berklee College of Music, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance. Nery later graduated from California Institute of the Arts, with a Master’s degree in Jazz studies, where she studied with Joe LaBarbera, Darek Olse, Larry Koonse and David Roitstein. Nery has performed as both a leader and sideman in a wide range of jazz styles. Her group headlined at the Berklee Performance center and the Blue Whale in Los Angeles. She has worked with Grammy Nominated Trumpeter Ron King and a World Renowned Bassist Sekou Bunch and many others. She was a 2016 Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Finalist. Nery's talents lead her to play around the world, in places such as International Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, South Korea, China, Turkey, Central America and the United States.
